10th Penang International Halal Expo & Conference To Promote Digital Adoption Among The Halal Industry Stakeholders




The 10th Penang International Halal Expo and Conference (PIHEC in short) organised by PIHH Development Sdn Bhd (better known as Halal Penang) is back from 1 - 3 March 2019 at Subterranean Penang International Convention & Exhibition (sPICE) Centre, set to promote digital adoption among the Halal industry stakeholders.

The event was grace opened by the Penang Chief Minister, YAB Chow Kon Yeow, accompanied by YB Dato' Abdul Halim bin Hussain, Minister of Domestic Trade, International Industry, Entrepreneurship Development and Consumer Affairs of Penang.

Themed 'Digitalisation and the Halal Industry', PIHEC 2019 is an umbrella event that housed an international expo, the inaugural Global Blockchained Halal Industry Forum 2019 (GBHIF2019), the 'Halal Healthcare & Wellness Towards Future Sustainability' Conference, the Penang International Halal Chef Challenge (PIHCC) and series of business matching programmes and seminars.

The international expo showcasing 350 companies from the Halal F&B, beauty, health and pharmaceutical products, Halal manufacturing and packaging companies, Islamic banking and financial instruments, Halal tour and tourism, education and consultancy; both locally and from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan and Pakistan. The event is expecting 10,000 visitors from local and delegation from Thailand, Taiwan and UAE too.

One of the key highlights of this year's event, is the inaugural Global Blockchained Halal Industry Forum - researched, produced and managed by Confexhub Group, to provide an interactive platform for the Halal industry stakeholder to better understand the blockchain revolution and its applications in the Halal economy. Panel speakers that will be sharing their insights are renowned international Halal blockchain solution providers and captains of the Halal market. The conference is also proud to have Salaam Gateway - one of the top visited portals for the Halal industry owned by Thomson Reuters as 'Knowledge Partner'.

Happening on the second day of the event, is the 'Halal Healthcare & Wellness Towards Future Sustainability' conference that focusing on raising awareness on the importance of the halal healthcare and wellness in today's challenging times and addressing the future uncertainties.

The Penang International Halal Chef Challenge (PIHCC) continue to serve its objective in nurturing culinary skills through a wide range of competition categories involving renowned international judges and gastronomic maestros from across the region.

During the Opening Ceremony, Halal Penang has awarded five industry awards as part of their initiatives in motivating and encouraging the local entrepreneurs' involvement in the Halal economy.
